This is the blog of an American living in Krakow, Poland. At the moment, actually, I am on American soil, but my home is in Poland. This blog--I actually prefer the name "journal," but that probably makes me some kind of internet freak--is mostly for me, but it is also my desire that it provide a little window into life in a country that was formerly behind the Iron Curtain, but is now a member of the European Union, and trying to get from 1930's style living to 21st century living in the relative blink of an eye--say a decade or so.
I'm not a political junkie, and while I do follow the main stories in the news, this won't be a political blog--especially when I am in Poland. This will be personal--about what's happening with me and my family in Poland. I'm not sure whether or not it's a blog rule, or blog etiquette, to refer to oneself in the third person, but in any case, I won't be doing that. I am me. I shall refer to my husband with the masculine form of my own name--Krakovian--and my children as J, E, K, and C. When I want to talk about them, that is.
I may include entries about the books I'm reading or the things I'm studying, since I'm a fan of educational philosophy, a homeschooler, and an avid reader in general. In short, this is a place for me. I'm at home here, which is a rough translation of the blog title. "U Krakovianki" means, more or less, "At Krakovianka's home." I'm just leaving the curtains open, so that you can have a little peak.

Hello! I am not sure how I stumbled upon your journal, but it is very interesting! What a unique opportunity for me to learn! It never ceases to amaze me, this world, how small yet so, so big.
